In addition to the shofars themselves, there are useful associated gifts. One example is the range of embroidered carry bags for shofars. These are especially important for two reasons. Firstly, they protect shofars from damage. There are many specific and detailed laws relating to whether shofars are kosher or acceptable in Jewish law. If Shofars are damaged, they may not be eligible to be used in front of the whole congregation. Carry bags designed for shofars are a practical way to keep them from being damaged. Another reason for using carry bags for shofars is that they will prevent confusion in synagogue. Because there are a limited number of types of shofars, it can get confusing if many people each bring shofars to shul. To avoid confusion, keep your Shofars in a unique bag. You can’t carve of write your name on your Shofars so the only solution is to use carry bags designed specifically for shofars.

Shofars also make a novel gift at your Rosh Hashannah dinner or lunch table. It can be difficult to bring children into a festival with as much spiritual depth as Rosh Hashannah when there aren’t the activites that Jews have for Purim and Passover. Gifts of Shofars to the children are a great way to bring them into the festival and give them an active, productive way to participate. These Shofars are also easier to blow. Shofars can be purchased at a very reasonable price for children. There’s no reason to not buy shofars for each of the children. Of course, you don’t want them to fight over the Shofars! It would be counter-productive if the children started fighting over the Shofars so pick one up Shofars for each of the kids and their friends who will be at your festive lunch or dinner tables.

Power of Shofars

It’s a special time each New Year when the community gathers in their synagogues right across the world and wait, patiently, for the conclusion of the service when the Baal Takiah blows Shofars. The sound of Shofars is loud, strong with only a single note. Shofars seems to penetrate to your core and burn away all the nonsense and foolishness that make up such a big part of our lives. The sound of Shofars enters your ears and goes right to your heart and beyond to your sole. There is no deception available when the Shofars blow. When the sound hits you, you feel as though your sins and good deeds are out in the open. It’s the time to account and the blowing of the Shofars around the world is the kick-off point for judgement.
